A Killer Carnival

Volume 5 in Jeannette de Beauvoir’s Provincetown Mystery Series

Available November 15, 2019

‘Tis the Season for Murder

“A Fatal Folly,” latest installment in the Provincetown Mystery Series, features pirate treasure, festivities, and fatalities.

Provincetown, MA, November 12, 2019: Homeport Press is pleased to announce the publication of A Fatal Folly: A Provincetown Mystery, the fifth in author Jeannette de Beauvoir’s series of “cozy mysteries with a twist” set during Provincetown’s famous theme weeks.

Sydney Riley takes holiday stress to new levels.  Holly Folly is approaching, and Sydney Riley is feeling far from festive. She hasn’t heard from her boyfriend in weeks, a mysterious stranger has crashed into her beloved “little green car,” and, in a moment of temporary insanity, she’s invited her parents for the holidays. She’s convinced things could not possibly get worse—until she stumbles over a body at the lighting of the lobster pot Christmas tree.

As if this is not enough, when a gold coin and nameplate of a missing fishing boat are discovered, she’s asked to investigate the unsolved mystery of a murdered fisherman. While Provincetown is aglow with holiday lights and events, Sydney, Provincetown’s unofficial sleuth, is in the dark but determined to uncover the motive for both murders.

HomePort Press publisher Arthur Mahoney, says “Jeannette de Beauvoir deftly combines murder, merriment, and pirate treasure in a fascinating tale that unfolds against the backdrop of Holly Folly, Provincetown’s annual holiday event.”

Author de Beauvoir captures not just the venues where her mysteries take place, but also the layers through which people experience those venues. Previous titles in the series include Death of a Bear, Murder at Fantasia Fair, The Deadliest Blessing, and A Killer Carnival.

A Fatal Folly will not only appeal to readers of the previous Sydney Riley mysteries, but also to readers of any mystery featuring a strong female sleuth as protagonist. It is available in mass-market paperback and ebook formats, both online and from local independent booksellers.

A launch celebration and signing is planned for 2 pm, November 30 at the Provincetown Public Library (357 Commercial St.), followed by a reading and talk at the Provincetown Bookshop on Friday, December 6th at 2 pm. For other events, please check the HomePort Press Events Calendar.
